Basic Reading Skills

A six unit course that targets the reading skills necessary for college course readiness, focusing on elementary grade level reading skills. This course is the first part of two reading skills courses with Advanced Reading Skills covering secondary grade level skills, that cover the scope of reading from elementary grades through high school. These courses were modeled after common developmental education or pre-college courses that are offered when students do not meet college entrance assessment targets. Topics include: readiness for college reading, building a college vocabulary, and reading for understanding.
